Acme Binding is established.

Founded by J.G. Roberts, it is located initially at 6 Water Street. The oldest continually operating book bindery in the U.S., it is purchased by Frank Bernard and L.M. Pinkham in 1880 and becomes the F.J. Barnard Company in 1890 with an office at 17 Providence Street. It becomes Wesby Barnard Bindery in 1973, Northeast Library Binding Company, Inc. in 1978, and Acme Binding in 1983. The company is currently located at 100 Main Street in Charlestown.
